I have been mulling over the news recently that a 14 y.o. in Philadelphia was arrested (and charged currently as a juvenile) for amassing an arsenal and trying to recruit another teen to help stage a “Columbine type” massacre at his former school.
In and of itself, this may be news, but not new. We’ve seen [...]

It’s that Thursday – the one where I have to go to the bariatric surgery support group meeting. I haven’t done it yet, or even been accepted for actual surgery, but it’s required. They say it’s required, but they don’t take attendance. I guess it’s the honor system.
It actually was fun last month and I’m [...]

It was a busy evening. I had a meeting of the Search Committee at church at 7 PM. I’ll be making a contact call to one of the candidates tomorrow. I’m glad we are finally getting to do something other than talk to each other, as much fun as that can be.
I did get home [...]

I’ve spent much of the past 2 days in and out of a “Fibro Fog.” It was a light fog, to be sure – not the kind that causes me to be unable to do anything at all. This was the kind that made focusing difficult. I needed to write myself notes to be able [...]

Not literally. But painful non the less.
After a long travel day on Monday and a busy Tuesday of unpacking and doing laundry, I was sort of waiting for the proverbial shoe to drop. It did!!
Wednesday morning, I woke up with the most pain I’ve had in months. A wicked headache to greet me the moment [...]
Non-Stop . . . Sort Of

I have been going non-stop since yesterday morning. Well, that’s not exactly true. It’s been more like go, go, stop, wait, go, go, stop, wait . . .
Yesterday morning I woke up in rainy Minneapolis. We’ve only had one sunny day since we’ve been in Minnesota. Since we had a late flight, we had most [...]
Going Home

This is an atypical last day of vacation. Usually our plane leaves early in the morning and we are rushing around trying to pack and get there in time. Today, we leave about 6:30 PM, so we can pack at our leisure and have to try to find something to stay busy between check-out and [...]

What a beautiful day!!! This was the best day of our vacation – at least weatherwise. The sun was out – no clouds; there was a gentle breeze; temperatures were in the high 50’s and low 60’s. Who could ask for anything better?
We left a little later than we have been – sort of slept [...]

Today we set off for north country. We drove from our hotel in Woodbury, MN up to Duluth, MN and points north along Lake Superior. We noted several streetlights along the interstate that were “equipped” with their own resident hawks, looking for breakfast apparently. When we got to Duluth, we followed a scenic drive called Skyline [...]
A Day in the Minnesota Wilds

No, not the hockey team this time; the wilds, wilderness, great outdoors. Okay, it wasn’t wild like, say, the wilds of Alaska, but it was out of the city.
We set out this morning to drive to the Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge north of Zimmerman, MN. We left about 9:45 AM and decided to take the [...]
