“On the road again . . . can’t wait to get on the road again . . . yes, I can’t wait to get on the road again.”
Yes, we’re on the road again – well, at least on the road for a short time. Tomorrow morning we’re in the air! We’re driving down to Hartford this evening and staying over so we don’t have to get up at 3 AM for an early morning flight. Tomorrow morning we wing our way to Minneapolis, then drive to Mitchell, SD for the first night. Saturday, we’re heading to Rapid City and a weekend visit with our Lakota friends.
I’ve been packed since Monday. Well, mostly, anyway. There are always those last minute things that can’t be put in until the day you leave. Like my CPAP machine. I wouldn’t want to be anyone my husband works with today – he gets really fidgety when it’s a few short hours til he’s free for over a week.
I, on the other hand, get to be fidgety all by myself. My son works 2PM to 11PM at his new job, so I now have quiet afternoons. Too quiet on the day I’m leaving on vacation. Not that I want to talk to anyone. I just want to get going.
We’re going to go to Ted’s Montana Grille for dinner before we check into the hotel tonight. The food is great and it’s one of the few restaurants in the northeast where you can actually order bison. I think I’ve already decided what I’ll order, too. I love their bison meatloaf. I don’t know what seasonings they put into it, but it’s really tasty. The portion sizes are just right for a gal who has to watch that kind of thing. Since we’re heading to the hotel, then the airport in the morning, it wouldn’t help to “wrap” any leftovers to take with us – unless I planned to eat it cold for breakfast. I don’t think so.
This trip is going to take us to South Dakota and Minnesota. We’ll visit with my “godchild” and her family in Rapid City, SD for the Columbus Day weekend, then head back to Minnesota. We’re going to stay outside the Minneapolis-St Paul twin-city area. Who needs the traffic all the time?! Our first day in Minnesota, we’ll be going to a Minnesota Wild NHL game. Can’t wait! Then we’ll spend the rest of the time exploring a new state – at least new to us.
I’ll let you know if we find anything interesting while we’re on the road for the next 11 days.
