Really – it was a half day. My husband got out of work an hour early and, after pumping out some water from the cellar that was caused by the recent New England rain and snow storms, we set off for beautiful Revere, MA.
We stopped in Auburn, MA at Friendly’s Restaurant for supper. The service was great and the food was good. This vacation is starting off very well.
Okay – by the time we got there it was dark. So I can’t really tell you what it looked like. We had a reservation at a Hampton Inn that was near Logan Airport. They have shuttle service and will watch our car while we’re gone. Good deal.
Everything went smoothly with check-in. The room was okay – nothing to write home (or here) about, but the mattress was very good. That’s the most important thing for a one night stay, isn’t it? Internet access was another matter! The cord they supplied didn’t work; it was permanently fastened to the wall, so we couldn’t use our own. Wireless signals were weak to non-existent. The hotel directory gave an “800” number to call for problems with the computer service. My husband called and, while the young man at the other end of the call tried to be helpful, none of his tips did anything to enable us to connect with the internet.
Since we had to get up for a 5 AM wake-up call, we gave up and watched TV. Morning came all too soon – but wait, that’s another day.
