I started laughing the minute I finished that title.
There’s no such thing as “normal.”
There’s usual, typical, routine, average …. but no normal.
The fact that I can think and write again – that’s routine. The fact that bronchitis is being kicked out by antibiotics – that’s typical. The fact that I’m catching up on things I’ve been putting off when I felt like crap – that’s as usual. The fact that I’m ready to go run errands early – that’s average.
I am looking forward to leaving for vacation on Saturday morning. I wish it was going to be as nice then as it is this morning. But rain on vacation is still better than no vacation. And much better than snow and ice on vacation. So the positive reigns once more!
My sister, her husband and my step-dad are due home tonight from their trip to Vegas. Hope they had a good time. So today’s the last day we have to worry about picking up newspapers and mail. One less thing to keep in the old memory banks.
I have to leave shortly to get a haircut (the last hair cut was the day of my mother’s wake – nothing normal there), so maybe I’ll take a ride over to see if the papers and mail are ready then. I like trying to consolidate errands. It saves time and gas. Lord knows, anything that saves gas these days is a good thing.
That reminds me of something I heard on the radio yesterday. They were having folks call in with responses to the lead-in, “You know you’re grown up when …” I guess mine would be “You know you’re grown up (getting older) when you say ‘Look at the prices today! I remember when gas was under a dollar a gallon. I remember when you could get two ice cream sundaes for $1 (1974).’ ”
Gotta run – can’t keep the hairdresser waiting.
